Days 1 to 2 -
UK to Johannesburg International Airport - Pretoria

Overnight flight from UK to Johannesburg where you are personally met by a representative from our partner company, who will assist you with collecting your rental vehicle and guide you to your guesthouse in Pretoria. Here you will receive the latest road map with detailed route descriptions, discuss possible excursions along the way, as well as other information pertaining to your journey. Rest of the day may be spent exploring our capital city Pretoria: the Voortrekker Monument and the impressive Union Buildings, the home of former President Paul Kruger, Church Square and others. More options: a guided tour of Soweto (own cost, must be booked in advance), the biggest black township in South Africa, and a visit to the Apartheids museum. Overnight: Cascades Guest House in Pretoria.

Day 3 -
Pretoria - Mpumalanga - Graskop
|
Travel along the N4 via Witbank and Middelburg to the scenic Lowveld of Mpumalanga. Visit the quaint village of Dullstroom, take the Long Tom pass to Sabie, the centre of the Forestry Industry. After a visit to some of the magnificent waterfalls in the area, you travel to Pilgrim's Rest, a small town that gained fame during the Gold Rush in the 1800's. The whole town is a living museum. Overnight at the Graskop Hotel.

Day 4 -
Mpumalanga - Kruger National Park
|
Today you follow the Panorama-route to the Blyde River Canyon, God's Window, Bourke's Luck Potholes and the Three Rondavels. Late afternoon you enter the famous Kruger National Park. Game viewing on your way to camp. Overnight in one of the northern rest camps in the park.

Day 5 -
Kruger National Park

|
Another full day’s game viewing from north to south, with different options: a night drive in an open 4x4 vehicle, or an early morning walk, accompanied by an armed ranger. (Own cost, must be booked in advance). Overnight in one of the southern rest camps in the park.

Day 6 -
Kruger Park - Swaziland
|
|
A last game drive, leaving the Kruger Park and travel further south to the Kingdom of the Swazi's - Swaziland. Here you will meet the friendly and colourful Swazi people on a visit to the Ngwenya Glass Factory, a candle making factory and a typical Swazi market. Overnight at the Mantenga Lodge.

Day 7 -
Swaziland - St Lucia Wetlands
|
Your journey continues to the St Lucia Wetlands - a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Take a boat trip on Lake St Lucia and be on the lookout for crocodiles and hippos, as well as many different bird species. You may also visit Dumazulu, a traditional Zulu village for a cultural experience Or perhaps go on a game drive in the nearby Hluhluwe Game reserve, home to the black and white rhino. Overnight at the St Lucia Wetlands Guest House.

Day 8 -
St Lucia - Umhlanga Rocks
|
Travel along the north coast of Kwazulu-Natal to the coastal village of Umhlanga Rocks, for a glorious day on the beach of the warm Indian Ocean. Overnight at guest house in Umhlanga.

Days 9 to 10 -
Durban – Port Elizabeth - Knysna
|
Today fly from Durban to Port Elizabeth where you start exploring the famous Garden Route - "nature's garden". Visit the Tsitsikamma National Park and the Stormsriver to the Coast of Storms. Continue along the Lake District to the popular seaside town of Knysna with its lagoon and Heads, protecting the entrance to the sea. The following days you may visit Plettenberg Bay, see the old yellowwood tree, the "Big Tree", go for a trip on the Choo-Tjoe steam train or take the John Benn Ferry to the Heads and the Featherbed Nature reserve. Don't forget to try the famous Knysna oysters! Your guesthouse has a spectacular setting - from here an unrivalled view across the lagoon towards the ocean. Overnight at the Brenton Hill Guest House.

Day 11 -
Knysna - Oudtshoorn
|
You leave the Garden Route behind and travel via the Outeniqua Pass to Oudtshoorn where you visit the Cango Caves. Oudtshoorn is well known for the Ostrich Boom in the 1800's and many of the houses or Ostrich Palaces can still be seen. Your accommodation is on a working ostrich farm where the farmer will show you his ostriches. Ostrich fillet is also on the menu tonight! Overnight at the La Plume Guest House.

Day 12 -
Oudtshoorn - Stellenbosch
|
From Oudtshoorn you travel along the scenic Route 62 via Barrydale and Montagu to Stellenbosch. Much to do in this university town with its Cape Dutch architecture, cool oak-lined streets and many museums. Visit one of the many wine estates, or take the Helshoogte Pass to Franschhoek, known as the culinary capital of the Cape. Overnight at the Rusthuiz Guest House.

Days 13 to 14 -
Cape Town
|
Enjoy the many sites in and around CapeTown: Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens, the first building - the Castle, take the cable car to the top of Table Mountain. Make a full day's outing to Cape Point and the Cape of Good Hope National Park, pausing along the way to visit the Penguin Colony at Boulders Beach. Your route takes you along the breathtaking Chapman's Peak Drive, Hout Bay and Kommetjie. Later, visit the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront with its many shops and restaurants. Take a boat trip to Robben Island, famous for its connection to Nelson Mandela. Overnight at the Huijs Haerlem Guest House.

Cape Town to Home

Last day for sightseeing, shopping and enjoying the sun. Drive to the airport well in time for returning your rental vehicle and checking in for the return overnight flight home. End of a wonderful holiday!
