The Indigo Bay resort is situated on the idyllic and pristine Bazaruto Island; Indigo Bay offers visitors a quintessential Indian Ocean island holiday, as well as a gateway to the unspoilt beauty of the Bazaruto Archipelago. The chalets and guest areas have been constructed out of natural materials which blend harmoniously with the perfect surroundings. There are 29 beach chalets, one beachfront honeymoon chalet, 12 luxury bay view suites each with two bedrooms, one presidential suite and one executive Matemo Suite. All rooms are air conditioned, fully mosquito screened, with en suite bathroom, mini-bar, electronic safe, hairdryer 24 hour power, satellite TV, international plugs and telephone access.

Indigo Bay offers a choice of bars and various top class dinner venues. Specialties are seafood barbeques, themed dinners and local Mozambican Portuguese cuisine. The diverse ecosystem of the Bazaruto Archipelago caters for a range of interests – protected reefs offering numerous dive sites; powdery white beaches, crystal clear waters, a fisherman’s paradise with big game fishing for Marlin and Kingfish, bird watching, freshwater lakes and enormous sand dunes. Should you tire of lazing on the beach there are an exhilarating range of activities. Scuba diving is the premier attraction of Indigo Bay, as the marine life is simply spectacular and the number of reef dive locations is amazing. Snorkellers will appreciate crystal clear waters with dazzling soft corals, starfish, anemones, seahorses and a bewildering range of beautiful fish.

The game fishing is truly magnificent and many fishermen come to the Bazaruto Archipelago for the chance to pull in a really big one. A range of motorised and non-motorised water sports may be enjoyed in the warm Indian Ocean just off the beach, near the lodge. One of the most fun activities has nothing to do with water at all – though it takes place in the soft, sandy dunes on the island. Dune boarding is a relatively new sporting activity and is an extremely easy and fun-filled way to fill an afternoon. Fauna and flora on the island abounds. Flamingos on tidal flats, endemic butterflies, hundreds of bird species in wetland, savannah grassland and thicket. All this can be explored on a fascinating island drive or on horse back as there are a number of exciting trails around the island, of varying length and difficulty.
